Night Riding Lights

What setup do you guys suggest for something like the 36One? Will the Extreme Lights XP3 running on a combination of Mid\Low do the job?

I used two single LED units on the bars, mounted either side of my stem. The sweep angle of the bars meant that the lights weren't focused perfectly parallel. This gave a slightly wider beam angle than just one unit would and because the beams overlap in the middle, you get a hotter hot spot. That means you can run the units on a lower setting, which in turn means each LED runs more efficiently, which equals better battery life.

I ran the 2 units off one of these: http://www.extremelights.co.za/product/super-high-capacity-4-cell-6800mah/  and easily made it through the night.

Another plus, running 2 units on the bars, was that when I needed LOTS of light, I could drive both units full tilt. (and also run one unit when there was no one else around and the moon light was almost enough on it's own.)

A tip for 36One is to spare your light especially early on when there are lots of other riders around. Run them on as low a setting as you can because the MANNE wiff their BIG BRIGHT lights make enough light for everyone and then complain about battery life at 3am :D

For sure! 10 hours on 700L. What more do you need?!

Extreame lights are tops, with fantastic backup service, had issue with bracket replaced it immediately.

Was also happy with my Magic Lights, also good.

Just beware of "cheaper" lights, yes unit (light) may be the same but they cut costs with cheap batteries.

especially for night MTB, get as MUCH light as possible.

& suggest mount light on helmet so light is where you are looking & not where bike is pointing..

Some run a broad beam on bike & spot on helmet..

Just a note with regards to the weatherproof battery case...we imported a pile of lights...and when i sorted out the battery pack...i found the plug which connected from the light to the pack was slightly different so i went to mantech in durban and purchased the same for the light and got the guys at battery experts to fit it.

The bicycle light they sell at battery experts has the same plug as the weatherproof battery case.
