JScottP Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Just having a look around and noticed that one could get some pretty decent deals on used bikes pro teams sell off. Canyon for example take all the bikes back at the end of the season go through it, replace moving parts and sell it with their warranty. Has anyone gone this route? T-Bob Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Either Evans or Merlin seem to seek a lot of world tour team bikes. You get a hell deal, top mechanics looking after them and you can be riding Andre G's fully spec'd Ridley for a great price.
Eugene Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 I've seen some of the bike local pro riders sell and to be honest I wouldn't even consider one. These bikes have a hard life and are ridden into the ground. Sometimes you can pick up spare bike which have spent their life on the roof of a team car. They could be an option.
gummibear Posted May 15, 2015 Posted May 15, 2015 Hard life? Ridden into the ground? Really? Not sure about that. A bike is a bike. Those things get looked after better than the queens yorkies! I have seen them stripped down and rebuilt after every day at the Epic. Be lucky if my bike gets a kick of the tyres.That's race bikes. Training bikes aren't treated in the same way.....they have a very hard life and i'd stay away.
