I've got one of those, and they are great. Save up and buy yourself one, you won't regret it.

If you don't mind me asking what did the reign cost you? Is it the reign 2?

DONT get a jump bike ...

Don't listen to Nigel! He doesn't want you to have fun!

I know for a fact that Mr Christmas Tree and 2D have both done Cascades on jump bikes and only ended up with a melted rotor and a medium to industrial weight concussion from Jugs.

Yeah, but Mr Chrismakah is on another level. We mere mortals aren't in the same league...

Ya it is a Reign 2, and i paid around 33k for it last year, got it at a family and friends discount i guess. There are a few on the hub though, check them out, maybe try negotiate a bit.

ive come across a trance for sale for 20k not sure of year or spec just yet, was only sent a pic. How does the trance compare to the reign?

Pic?

Shorter travel, steeper head angle, shorter top tubes and reach. Better climber, not as good on the downs but more "active" under the rider. More lively, has more "pop" to it, apparently.

Still a VERY good bike.

Trance has a great frame and the spec for the price is good..

However if you are going to be doing DH and jumping things the Reign is a far better deal. Out of the box it will be solid. Pike, AM wheels, Dropper post etc.

A Trance 2 out of the box needs a few upgrades before I'd ride it hard.

Thanks for that! If i could find one 2nd hand then great, but i can't afford the 30k+ price tag on a new reign.

okay, that's not worth R 20k. At all. Max 16k. It's a 2012 / 2013 model. 125mm rear suspension vs the current 140,

Still a VERY good bike, but not for that amount.

EDIT: For example: Julien Louw is selling his 2014 Trance.

I have been offered a carbon bike, so rebuilding my aluminium frame to sell with mostly all the new parts from the carbon bike. I am keeping my old wheels, fork and seatpost. the only parts that will not be new on the bike I am selling, will be the ones that are difficult to change out, like the cranks.

Frame is the black Trance 27.5 2.

Bike has been kept in excellent mechanical condition, but frame has rub marks and some small scratches.

Seller trying to get his cash back on those havens. They look mint. Gorgeous wheels.

But i agree. Those models go for about 9-15k even with upgrades.

Those model trances are great starter bikes.

Brilliant point and shoot bikes and very capable up and down.

But if you like jumps and drops you gonna want more travel quick.

A 2014 model (27.5 wheels and 140mm travel) went for 16k a few weeks ago.

Deals like that are VERY few and far between.

I'd keep you eyes peeled for a 130-140mm bike if I were you.

Just be patient and keep looking.

This should be arriving soon tho... can't wait :)

You have been waiting a while. Is it being delivered by the South African post office or whats the story.

Lekka looking ride that. That is about the only bike Giant sells that I could happily own.
