I don't mind sifting thru an hours worth of raw video to produce a 5 min video clip but the amount of data that has to be processed from these cameras is insane, nothing worse than editing for a few hours only for your pc to hang up and all your work lost

If any of you were bitten by the urge to get a GoPro and now have it living in the cupboard, and want to donate it to a grateful Hubber, I'll be a very accepting recipient!

yeah, I'm on the prowl for a chesty for a good price.

Love my GoPro, have hours of memorable video to edit.

Those small moments with the kids...not really interested in getting a million hits on youtube, or an oscar (not the prison edition) or a channel on redbull bike.

I recently acquired a Hero 4 silver when in Singapore, the price was R5000 including a 32g SD card and collecting my Vat rebate at Singapore Airport. When I compare the video quality of the 4 to my son's 3 it's a serious upgrade. As for whether it adds value or not, I can honestly say that it has. I have great footage of riding in Chiang Mai forests, a close up encounter with Asian elephants (Ellie snot on the lense close) and arguably too much footage of snorkelling in Koh Tao. Sharing some of these with family and friends was great way of giving them insight into what we experienced.

The drawback is undoubtably the editing and the need for bandwidth when posting. It would be great to know if someone has an alternative way of posting videos on the Hub other than my way of posting on YouTube first and then a link on the Hub. I am going through this process right now to update my River Rat in Thailand thread, I guess it will be a interesting to see whether others would find them of interest or not.

Have you been using go-pro studio to compress the video into the you-tube format?

If you wish to share the items online, the easiest way is Youtube or Vimeo.

else you can use your google drive (if you have one) and share the links here on the hub, or email to friends. However, you may use up your drive storage very quickly if uploading video footage.

Yes, I use Studio but as I'm a bit ham handed when it comes to tech stuff I was hoping that I had missed something. I don't have a google drive how does that work?

You can register for a google drive account, and receive 15gb of online storage.

you can share links of items you uploaded onto your drive, with people. The links can be password protected if you dont want the whole world to see it etc.

unfortunately video by default is data intensive, unless it's compresed into unwatchable pixelated nonsense like 90% of the youtube crap.

Personally i would rather watch good quality boring video, than crap quality adrenaline filled videos.

Nothing better than pairing your red hot ride video with the latest hot hit on the radio....oh wait, copy right issues, Youtube won't publish your video because you are a pirate! So now you have to find some elevator musak or record your own music as a back track :(

I think they are a little less strict now than a while back - but that is from hearsay.

I think Vimeo is a lot less strict altogether.

Otherwise Google drive like RocknRolla says - but that is more suited to friends and family (but we are all friends on the hub :-)
