Buckled front rim

Hi Hubbers,

I took a dive at welvanpas the weekend and I buckled my front rim. Wasn't ride able but i managed to bent it back into a usable wheel again.

Took it in today to get straighten and i was told that it could not be done and I need to replace it. Is there anyone out there that could straighten it and at what point is it not possible to straighten it anymore?

Don't really want to replace the rim.

I have also had to bend a rim to be able to get home. Happened when I thought I had bike skills. Apparently I dont.

Anyway, I took it to one shop they said is couldnt be repaired. I was not impressed. So I took it to another shop and they were able to straighten it.

But...... It was never the same again. Constantly needed to be trued. I had no confidence in the wheel and that is not good on a MTB.

So after that long story . My advice is to replace it.

The spoke tension will be unequal if you tried to get it as best as possible. This will also compromise strength... front wheel, NO-NO. My teeth are worth more than that.
