Hydraulic disks

I bought a Scott with a front brake that does not quite do the biting I want it to. The disks and the pads are reasonably new (500km with little serious stopping) and it took me quite a while to ensure that they dont drag. I had hoped that aligning them would improve, but alas it didnt. I even swopped front pads to the rears and that too didnt improve.

Does anyone know of a fix to improve the situation.

They first need to "bed" but 500km should have ben way enouhg. Either ride and and do som quick brakes or hold the levers while riding. If you swop the pads you need to do it all over again. And NEVER touch the rotors with your fingers. Also make sure your pads are clean. I clean my pads and rotors with benzine.

Shimano, but I dont know the exact model line. I use to rely on the V-brake and they were not only light, but easy to set up and they stopped when I wanted to stop. The disks needs a bit of begging. I also came into close associuation with a taxi on Friday and I feel that the brakes could have helped.

All this I did! I made sure that I slowed down with long partial application on the faster desents I normally do in order to bed them in. No improvement!

Rebleed. You didnt perhaps get any mineral oil or other oil on the pads?

No on all accounts. Please explain the correct bleeding procedure?

Rather take it to a bike shop. Bleeding is very easy, but if I explain it to you they may  never work again.

I had the same problem with my girlfriend's Scott reflex 20(Avid Juicy 3 brakes). The brakes just didn't have any oomph and you had to pull way too hard to stop. I took alcohol swabs and cleaned the disks & pads and afterwards bled both F&R systems. They work a 100% better now. Look on the manufacturers website for tips and instructions on how to bleed brakes. It's not that difficult.
