Science behind building a berm

Is there a science behind building berms to assist with cornering at speed? Approaching angle vs angle of exit determining height of berm? How do you secure the berm in place (ie so the soil don't wash away...)

I am extending my singletrack on the farm. There is a fairly steep down section (not a clean drop, more like 'afdraande') that drops about 2,5m within 2m or so. 3m from the landing I need to make 90 degree turn right, or it is into the bushes and trees and river...

Now, making that turn at some speed (you know, you have to go faster everytime), how should I build the berm?

I'd rather gather insight directly from the bottomless resources that is thehub, than watching youtube videos.....

Yes there is science to it but you'd need to get an engineer in to work out what's needed based on entry speed that is achievable to the berm, then work out force on the berm and then how to retain it against that force....

Or you just grab a couple tones of clay and more it into shape and hope for the best

As you are from Pretoria, you should know the Big Red Barn?

The berms are perfect @ this place, just ask the guys there, who is the builder, and i am sure he will meet you for a beer @ your place and can give you some advice?
