Wow but that's intense. The accident had just happened as they crossed to the TV feed. What a sport. It's insane really. Hope he makes a full recovery. Sympathy and good wishes to him.

Proof that no one gives a damn about the Pros. They just pick them up and put them back on their bikes. Vamos! Vamos!!!

Seriously. If he'd hit that armcor barrier....

Heheheee. Called Adrenalin. When I watched the clip I had cold shivers down my legs. Happened so quick. Even if he hit that barrier, they would have shouted louder. Find that Vamos! Vamos! hilarious. LOL

Since reading that Schumacher "induced coma" story this condition always leaves me unsettled. Hopeful for a full recovery @krisboeckmans.

Yip, and Jasper wins the stage with a fractured wrist. I honestly know of no other pro sport where athletes endure so much and keep going with broken bones and horrible injuries. MMA cage fighting has nothing on road racing. Add to that the extreme weather conditions (from 40 degree midday heat to snow and ice), and then incompetent race organisers put up outrageously poor courses, insanely dangerous sprint finishes, clueless drivers of cars and bikes driving at high speed right amongst them.... and the racers take all of this in their stride, pick themselves up and dust themselves off and just get on with things. I've said it before and I'll say again: for me they are the toughest and hardest athletes in pro sports anywhere. Respect. So when we get idiot armchair critics who say "oh they're too soft" the moment riders complain when conditions become extreme and even life threatening, I struggle to contain my extreme frustration. These same people will stay indoors if there's a bit of drizzle outside, and if they fall off their bike they'll let the whole world know about it. But with a straight face, and in the same breath, they'll say pro roadies are too soft.

Wow. No ones mentioned doping yet, with an unknown youngster climbing better than the favourites, heavier guys riding up climbs like mountain goats, and Aru riding away from the rest.

How exciting.

Chavez isn't exactly unknown.
