Last nights Supercycling made no mention of the two guys (can't remember their names)who were featured the the whole year preparing for the Epic. They interviewed them briefly on day 1 or 2 and then never again. Looks like they embarrassed the Supercycling team but I guess a small mention would have been a nice way to close it. Anyone out there know how they did??? The Stud2008-04-09 02:04:45

Ya, they should be kept in the zoo! I really think SS could have used 2 better guys....maybe they must have taken a more "normal" rider team. Guys that also have a day job and how they cope with training that we all can relate or learn from....just a thought. SS film guys that go away to NZ for weeks and never train, etc.

Mark and Don.Spoke to them on the second last day and they both said that they are knackerd.Just glad that they made it and that a second Epic will not be on the cards for a long time to come.

Yes, they rode with us, (Don and Mark I think). They were a bit slower as us, but always saw them in the village afterwards

When I crashed out, they were still riding, and no they are nice guys.

Tjops, those two guy is just normal guys. I'm not even sure if they are MTB'ers, but you can see they did suffer with us.

Mark and Don?  I saw their van from time to time, but didn't see them.

I was a bit dissapointed with the TV coverage.  Don't get me wrong - it's great to see how the top guys do things, but what about the other 1000 riders that rode for 9 days?  Those are the riders that MAKE the event.

pops, not saying that they are not nice people....they were funny doing things on SS that is why they need to be locked up in the zoo.....BUT on SS side of things I would have chosen two "normal" guys doing a day job have and see how people can help them do an Epic....if I did the Epic I would liked to see what can help me prepare better...

the top rides gives the Epic the coverage it needs to be the best MTB race in the world....

PERSONAL OPINION: I would rather see the top guys getting the coverage because they need to please sponsorships.

Fair enough - but there are also guys lower down in the field who sourced sponsors for the Epic.  I'm not saying you have to dedidate all the coverage to the bottom field, but it would be lekker to see some familiar faces suffering.Smile

Take the comrades, how many wath the 11h - 12h slot when the winners breeze in?

How many watch after 16h00 when the real and normal "us" struggle crawl and get carried in.... much more.

I think the normal guys spend and feed the industry 10 times more than what the pro's do.

So, Its us who kept the industry running.

new concept for reality TV.  GEt two biggest loser drop outs, put them on bikes, enter them for the cape epic.  Let them train for a year.  Interview them weekly, as the suffer through the training.  Peice de Resistance will be coverage of them wheezing and whining there way through the Cape Epic, live (much like big brother).
