Hi Hubbers,

Just a quick question: can I use shimano mineral oil to bleed my reverb seat?

It requires 2.5w suspension fluid but not sure what the weight of shimano mineral oil is.

Thanks

If they both use mineral oil it should be fine, never bled one though so I can't say conclusively. If you were stuck in the bush and only had shimano mineral oil and the reverb uses mineral oil then I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

Thanks. Cant seem to find the rock shox fluid so I guess will have to try the shimano mineral oil.

You can use Silkolene 2.5wt fork oil. If you are bleeding the remote the Shimano should be ok but I wouldn't use it in the post itself.

Thanks. Only want to bleed the remote and not the post it's self.

The post started going down by its self quite a bit without the remote being pushed.

Would a bleed resolve this as it had a major service a few months back where an internal part was replaces as it was bent (not sure on the part) and was working fine.

Just bled the post...twice...and still the problem exists.

The seat does not go all the way up when remote is pressed and when I push down on the seat it goes down without pushing the remot.

What could the issue be?

Mine did that after 4 months, cape cycles made me pay 1000 bucks for a service & new seals as they said the the seals had worn out & the post internals must be serviced every 3 months.

Have you tried pumping it up ? If you take the post out there is a valve that indicates 250psi.

I didn't try that but just did now anf it seems better but I can hear the air escaping.

Probably need a seal service. Thanks for the tip man.

I had mine serviced beginning of this year and seems the air is leaking and not holding meanimg it. Must need a service again.

Thats ridiculous to have it serviced every 3 months. I cant believe it only last so long.

I dont have R1000 to for put every few months for this things and I guess getting the seals to do it yourself are not easy to find.

If you work it out a reverb will cost 4.5k for the post, then another +/-700 every 3 months service fee.

So it's 4.5k + 2.8k = R7300 for the first year of owning g a reverb.

Does that sound right?

No, but that is how the mtb industry is ripping up off and making a killing.

Need to leatn to do the maintenance yourself but getting the seal kit is not easy and they do this purposefullly to rid your pocket of money.

Its really cool to have but not sure if the cost is worth it.

I also paid 1300 for a service thru cwc after 6 months, but after it failed a second time ccs replaced the post. There is a diy hack to replace the air seal yourself that costs peanuts. I can't remember where I read it but it is on the web.

Woll try google it. Thanks for the tip.

That's a lot of ronts just to keep a seatpost going, I can see how a fork or shock that cycles thousands of times a minute might need a relatively costly maintenance regime but not a seat post that might only be cycled 30 odd times a ride.
