  1. I got one on my spare wheel. Its ok on hard pack but I found its very twitchy on the loose stuff and on High speed fire roads, oh and dont ride it in the wet. Also bought cause it was cheap.
  2. I was at the Emirates office yesterday to inform them of my baggage and got an endorsed ticket. They said the main issue is the 23kg, the new rule is in place because of the unions. Apparently it's inhumane for ppl to carry baggage over 23kg thus the new rule. They told me that bikes and sporting goods still fall under the old rule of 300cm, no extra charges unless over 23kg and 300cm. I did pre arrange this for my trip just to be safe so they are aware that we will be taking bikes on our trip. So this means that emirates allows me to take my bike bag 300cm/23kg as well as another case of 150cm/23kg as free check in, then also a carry on of 7kg.
  3. Do they actually sit and measure all the baggage with a tape measure? I found a case that's 160cm in total which I am planning on using for my frame.

  5. Looks like the steel rings only comes in 94bcd so only compatible with sram cranks.
  6. Go sram steel chainring, it's has little bit of a weight penalty but only costs around r350 for a n/w and will last forever. U can get 2 different sizes for the price of 1 alloy ring if u are concerned about sizing.
  7. 6 Weeks to go. Crazy excited about this trip, just a little concerned about luggage issues with Emerates.
  8. Wtb i35 front and a flow or arc rear. I35 are super wide, will be super stiff and give u loads of front wheel traction. Problem with wider rims though is that the rear tire side knobs get torn or wear very quickly, but maxxis have started making tyres for the wide rims like the "minion wt". They are hard to find at the moment. If u can deal with changing rear tires every few months then get a super wide rear.
  9. Howzit man Yeah, just got flight prices and waiting accomodation info. Looking real good and we are super keen.
  10. I am sure a repair is exactly what Spaz is hoping the OP does, which would nullify and void any remainder warranty left. So if the frame is weakened at the point of the defect they could just reject the claim again and yet again wipe their hands clean. Seems that the OP got the **** end of the stick here.
  11. We are so spoiled for choice in tygerberg, we have around 20 bike shops within a 10km radius. It's pretty crazy if u think about it. Good luck with the venture.
  12. U should get some decent downtube protection if u plan on running the citius up front, that tire picks up lank stones and throws it straight at your frame.
  13. I got one on my hard tail rear wheel. Had a continental pure k@k that kept giving me sh!t, so I replaced with one of these. It's holding up great so far, no issues. Sidewalls seem good, i've thrashed them pretty hard. They roll nice and fast. Just a pity the widest is 2.2
  14. All canis tires I've seen have had canvas showing and tearing on the sidewalls
  15. Maybe the best route would be to get his dealer to remove the distorted paint and hope for frame seperation/damage. I am sure the bike company would warranty that?
  16. Agreed. It sounds like the problem is not the paint but the frame corrosion under the paint. It does sound like a manufacture defect as the paint layers and primer should act as a protective barrier against corrosion. Unless there has been damage through the paint causing an area for contamination to enter it may have been contaminated before the spraying process, wouldn't that classify as a workmanship issue & therefore be covered by the warranty?
  17. Yes the dampers should be exactly the same so should perform te same, only difference would be the stiffness. Like I said mine has had no real issues yet, and mine tracks well. I would demand a replacement.
  18. Hey man I have a 32 fit4 fork on my hardtail, it's not the factory version though. I have had no issues with it so far, it goes through its travel properly, doesn't bottom out abnormally, tracks really well and has good small bump compliance. So I think there must still be something wrong with it. It is definitely not a puke killer, they are 2 totally different forks and intended for different uses, but I do ride pretty hard and have ridden lots of trail that I have ridden with my pike, the 32 handled it very well. Mine has a bar mouted lock out which I have never bothered connecting so I always ride it open and like I said, it's been good thus far.
  19. I have a mate running a 29er pike on a 650b bike and he's loving it. It just slacken the head angle a little but u can always negate that with using an angle set to steeped it out if u want.
  20. Was a real good event, enjoyed it immensely. Was great passing the refreshment station twice for some well needed energy.
  21. U got me chasing trail. The series really motivates me to take the bike out and ride. Awesome setting for a backdrop. If I'm ever up that side I'd definitely tap that trail.
  22. Yeah the price has become a bit of an issue, it's double what I paid to race in kzn last year. Come on dirtopia, drop your prices a bit. At this pricing we going to have to get picky with events to attend when wpge release their dates, which is bad for both parties. I hate to see what next year brings...... we may start seeing more private races popping up.
  23. Aren't frame sets supposed to come with a shock?
  24. I'm definitely psyched about the season. Apparently he's cutting a new first stage so hopefully he does away with the old short rocky stage, it is just a little too short to use. I think that a reccy mission is required if u wanna push it on the day, I was out there a week ago and it was riding great. I may make a mission out that way on friday afternoon.
  25. happened to me with xt brakes. seemed that there was an air pocket in the reservoir. I did the same process but second lastly i closed the bleed nipple and pulled the lever a few times , there were some bubbles that were purged from the reservoir into the cup. I then repeated your step 4. its been good ever since.
