DemitriN Posted August 18, 2015 Share Can anyone advise me which pair of shorts is better for all mountain use? I need something comfortable with strong material, knee length that will fit well with knee pads. The 2 I'm looking at... LazyTrailRider Posted August 18, 2015 Share Between the two, definitely Fox. I have Dakine, Fox, Specialized and Royal shorts. In order of awesomeness:Specialized Royal Fox DakineDakine's Syncline is too short for pads and the fabric starts to look natty after a while. I've tossed mine and primarily ride with Fox's Ranger for general outings and then alternate between Royal and Specialized's Demo shorts when rides involve pads. The Demo is the best quality and most comfortable pair of riding shorts I've ever had, hands down. Not cheap, but worth every cent. http://www.specialized.com/za/en/ftr/mountain-apparel/mens-gravity-apparel/demoproshort
Samurai Pizza Cat Posted August 18, 2015 Share The Fox Demo short is awesome for downhill....I own 2 and love them. I wouldn't use them for AM or enduro duties though. They are not made to pedal with for extended periods of time. Rather look at some of the other trail / am models like the Ranger. I like the Alpine Stars pathfinder baggies and my all time fav: The Troy Lee Ruckus baggies. Expensive, but worth every penny!

DemitriN Posted August 18, 2015 Share A couple of you guys suggested I go for the Fox Ranger instead of the DaK syncline. Looking at the specs, inseam length for the Ranger is 12" and the Syncline is 14" - that's why I was considering the Syncline cause it is slightly longer. I dont mind going with the ranger as it comes with the detachable inner liner (bonus). But is it long enough to use with pads?

DemitriN Posted August 19, 2015 Share I tried on a pair of Rangers at the Fox shop. They were nice looking, the price is right and they fit OK. But I was hoping for a pair of shorts with a slightly longer inseam (to just below the knee), also a thicker material to survive my Conties crash landings. Was hoping to spend around R800-R900. Any suggestions?

The length looks sweet and the price is right... Read some complaints that the fabric is quite thin and not so durable. Anyone have a pair & some feedback?
