Will do thanks man....I dont know what that gap is between the frame and the spacer. I dont know if its always been like that. It is an aftermarket stem...maybe the chap forgot to put a spacer there I dont know?

No the stem won't be the cause of that gap not does a "spacer" that is caused by the bearing that is to high, or the Split not fully inserted into the bearing

I did the whole of the Nissan Trailseeker at Grabow with an almost seized up headset.  Not the most fun.

Get a proper set, and importantly, clean and service it regularly.  I was lazy and it stuffed up a perfectly good Cane Creek set.  Once the mud gets in and you ride with it, it will stuff up the bearing races.

Droo do you perhaps have a link to the CK headset that has that seal at the bottom bearing?

I have looked but can not find a headset that will work with integrated cups, can only find a nice one where you have to press the Headset cups into the frame. But it does look like a very good design.

They have something that looks to completely cover the bearing but only with their cup.

Which parts of the headset needs grease, except for the bearings which already contain grease obviously ...

I removed the seals from the bearings and repacked it with new grease.

Good call, it might have been a very expensive wash doublej

CK = Chris King, who do not make an integrated headset.

Cane Creek do make integrated models, but they are not Chris King. They have replaceable cartridge bearings like any normal headset. They do last longer than the FSA ones on the Giants though.

Use the Wap, it will be ok.

This looks like a nice bottom bearing set to use, but just the bearing and the blue ring not the cup thing on the left

So van die os op die jas.....

I bought my bike from a reputable BS in PE last year August. Ive been injured since December of 2014 so I havent really done a lot of riding on my Anthem....lets say maybe 1500km.

Heres my question....in the time that i have had it i have replaced the wheel bearings in both wheels because they were gritty, the bearings in the crank and now I have to replace the bearings in the steering cullumn as well as the complete rear derrailler because of a hanger that broke off.

Does this even sound right ?

I really like the owner of the bikeshop and dont want to start pointing fingers because he really has helped me a lot, but this seems like either terrible bad luck or terrible bike build?

If you've been washing it with a pressure washer I'm not surprised at all.

Now you know.

I'd also suggest you get your fork serviced before your stanchions wear out.

Could be yes, but I only got the pressure washer 2 weeks ago. I've used it once on the bike (very carefully). 3 days later my steering bearing needs to be replaced. The other parts was replaced when I washed with trickle water hose.

Not a bad idea to put grease in the cups and a thin coating of grease on steering components exposed inside the bike's head tube to limit corrosion if moisture gets in.

Contact between steel bearing shells and alloy steerer is already a recipe for corrosion if it gets wet.

Also, those 'marshguard' mini fenders that you cable tie to the fork brace are quite effective at keeping mud off the stanchion tubes as well as the underside of the headset and fork crown.
