Anybody have any recommendations?

Should I goto Thule, or are there slightly more affordable options and are they safe to use etc?

Seems a set of racks, costs around 4-5k, without the bike clamp portion.

Finally get rid of the polo?

Surely a towbar type setup would be a better call dude?

Yeah finally, baby girl arriving in March and the vivo doesnt cut it for my bikes and dogs.

I need to fit a towbar, otherwise I may have gone straight to that option. I would also like to possibly keep the towbar which I will get fitted in the future, free to tow something without having to worry about my bikes. Roof seems best I think.

Both are quite expensive options tbh. The roofracks are only the start, the carriers which fit on them arent cheap either.

My new car came with a towbar so I got a carrier for that and its seriously awesome.

I prefer the idea of Thule roof racks, but looked at a couple of options for the bicycle carrier portion.

Luckily found second hand Thule roof racks, at half the price of a new set.

The RacknRoll Les Paul option has served me well.  Have had it since May, with no issues.

The major noticeable difference between the Les Paul and Thule is the mounting to the roof rack.  Thule fastening system is more compact and "neater" (imho).

Very important is to remember no drive-thru take aways after a ride, and also limited access to parking lots etc. with the bikes on the car.

Ok so went with the Holdfast Phoenix roof racks. R1999 with fittings and looks decent, feels strong.

Thule bike holder is R2.4, for the decent one. Makes it a bit more affordable than going for Thule roof racks at about R4.2k.
