If i buy road cycling shoes can i use it on a mountain bike and if so can i buy those cleats underneath seperate and what price are they on average then

Different pedals use different style cleats. Theoretically, you should be able to use road shoes on a MTB, but would you really want to walk on a trail with those hard, flat soles?

I will use those shoes only for  when i do road cycling on my mountain bike

Those things underneath the shoe ( is it called cleats ) do they differ from shoe to shoe and from pedal to pedal or not

Yes and different brands use different cleats.

Look and Shimano are pretty popular

A word of warning, Look and Shimano road cleats look similar to newbies.  If you go for road cleats, make sure you get Look cleats with Look pedals or Shimano cleats with Shimano pedals.

Buy mtb shoes and use them for both bikes. Chances are you will uncleat and walk on a mtb ride and the sole is better suited for that, rather than destroying road shoes which when you walk on them usually make you look very uncoordinated!!

Thx guys but im still a little confused : If i buy road shoes can i cycle with mountain bike cleats - there is a pair of spez road shoes that i can buy for R350 and i have Trek mountain bike pedal/cleats .

Chances are, you won't get MTB cleats to fit road shoes, so no.

I wouldn't do it anyway. Look in the classifieds, there are often great deals to be found on shoes, sometimes even free
