Hi - dont know if you already talked about this so sorry then - here goes.

Eg i see a bike here on the hub and its in Natal and i dont wanna drive all the way out there - what can i do to get the bike to Gauteng.

What transport company is the best priced ?

What middle man is there that i can send my monies and he will release the funds to the seller only when delivery is comfirmed ?

Who can check the bike for me that there is no cracks or mechanical faults on the bike ?

Im so scared because a person can be scammed or taken for a ride ( excuse the pun ) on a transaction .

I have bought a few small things long distance, but only bought bikes I have seen with my own eyes.

I know loads of people have bought from a distance though.

I'd get a local bike shop to check the bike (or maybe at a stretch, somebody I trust who would know what to look for)

For me the bike shop makes the most sense as you could probably organise shipping and payment through them.

yeah get the seller to take it to a bike shop in the area to check it out for you. If they not keen on this then it just says they hiding something...

You can ask the bike shop to be the middle man, they can hold it while your payment clears to the seller, and then they seller can give them to go ahead to release/ship to you.

There are options. I have bought most of my 2nd hand bikes from Gauteng with family members viewing and concluding the deal for me.

Another option is kind and reputable hubbers checking it out for you, seen this happen a few times.

I buy and sell bikes across the country and have good friends, some of whom I have yet to meet in person, in Durban, Cape Town, PE, Plett, Bloem.

I often jump in my car, travel to PTA, Vereeniging to look at a bike on their behalf. Most times we conclude deal over the phone and I pay for the bike, take it home, strip and box for courier. My friends do the same for me.

Courier companies charge shipment depending upon the box dimensions. The smaller the package the cheaper. Normal cost between R220 and R500. Also depends upon destination.

I recommend you fnd a friend in the area to assist you and be prepared to do the same for them.

I have used a bike shop in Durban to strip off wheels, seat post, pedals and bars for me. They did a good job and I felt the price paid for the service was worth it. Send me a PM and I will send you their details.
