Went out on a ride last night and suddenly the Sti shifter (dura ace 10spd) was struggling to move the front derailer (also d-a) to the big chain ring. Got home oiled both the shifter and the front derailer and both where moving freely on their own. So I was thinking maybe it is time to replace the gear cable. Any suggestions?

Great ek gaan sommer nou-nou by die bikeshop in pop.

sammajoor' date=' so you agree that it might be the cable?[/quote']

had the same problem and then the cable snapped, replaced and all was fine.  Wouldn't go so far as to change the cable housings,  check if the old housings won't work.  Of course if your budget allows do everything then you 'll know it's good
