So far have found Golf Club Terrace and Doreen to be the steepest (both top 20%) and the dirt track at the back end is a right b%tch. John Hoatson in Krugersdorp is also up there but a bit out of the way. Does anyone here know some other stairways to heavens in this area???

If so please elaborate as I definetely interested in riding itThe one from Oaktree up the hill with sterkies on your right. There's also a short punchy climb by Monnas. Not sure of the name.

Have you found a good time to ride it?Before I moved out of my Fairland house I rode it a few times on a Sunday morning at sparrows fart. It's a very busy road and people insist on hammering it up there. If you ride mtb you can ride on the pavement on the flora side if you are heading up.

Guest notmyname Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 There's also the climb up from the corner of Hendrik p and Peter road. This road is also notsafe. Many commuter blokes do it and it seems like there is a foot path/ single track developing on the left when going up.
RocknRolla Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Off hendrik potgieter turn towards the pick 'n pay centre in kittle falls, carry on straight over two stop streets, and enjoy the climb up (the road is more or less centre of this screengrab Then there is sovereign road, turn on kruger rand towards wilgeheuwel, carry on straight. Left at the t junction ( sovereign road) Follow this road all the way to the dead end, and enjoy the climb back up. I have not done this, but it looks daunting ( another screengrab)

That last bit from Silver Tree to CR Swart is bad!!!That section is ~10% and short. Can blast up there deep into the red zone. Doreen and GCT do not allow forvsuch recklessness
Chris NewbyFraser Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Lived in Roodepoort for 20 years, never found a steeper paved road than the curve on Doreen. It is a 10 degree slope at the start with an 11 degrees just before the curve but the average is only 9 from bottom to top.
