This MTB thing got me

I love cycling.

I have been a "roadie" for years and even dabbled in track in the 1980's. I don't think I am too bad at it. I have done the Argus in sub3 and 94.7 in 2:30 odd and I really enjoyed it.

Then I had a back operation and lost some function in my left leg, so at least for the last year and maybe another one, I can't train or compete due to this impeded leg function. (Cant stand on my toes on my left leg...yet). Road riding is very uncomfortable at the moment so I cant spend more than an hour at a time in the saddle.

Then I got a new dual sus MTB in December. I think it's quite a lekker bike. I had good opportunity to ride it for the last 2 weeks of December. Did 360km between Northern Farm, the Cradle MTB route and Avianto. This included at least 3 over 2 hour rides which I have not been able to do in over a year.

It is so good! My kids call me a convert to MTB! What is really good for me is the many frequent posture changes during a ride. I get no time to sit and think about the leg thing - I must just pedal or fall! It feels to me that I have been given my cycling back!

Loving it again!

Yes, know where you are coming from.  I also cannot ride for longer than 30 kms without experiencing "deadleg" and have to stop or fall off the bike.  But it is still worth it as you are finding out.

Lekker to ride the bike with or without injury.....we are so very lucky so enjoy!
