Running and Cycling???

Hey Everyone...

I'm just curious... Is running good for your cycling?

Does it have any positive/negative effects on your cycling in general?

Would be interesting to know.

Cheers

Started running this year . . . . . at the moment I am very very crap at it.

Hope it helps with:

Cross training as oppose to only cycling. ( I do not swim, phobia for public pools)

No time for a longer cycle in the week. Getting a 2de rug-rat in 3 weeks.

Lose this tire around my waist.

Will let you know after  if I make it for a few months. . .

Been a lifelong cyclist, riding and racing for MANY years. Resting HR was always low 40s. Hanged the bike up beginning October (well, 1 ride a week) and started training for a big running event which is coming up end February. Two months later (mid December), resting HR down to 35.

Running gets you fit, quick quick.

I find running and cycling are beneficial to each other.

Generally, running has increased my aerobic fitness and cycling has increased my leg strength. Of course both forms of exercise add to both types of fitness though.

I try and do both twice a week and its nice to have that change, depending what I'm in the mood for.

This is trail running and MTB btw, not so much a fan of road stuff.

My work buggered up my travel arrangements and now I cant take my bike with me. I'm going to be away for 4 days, thinking about running these 4 days, but I am stressing because Sabie is this weekend, and I also have to train for the 36One. Don't like it when I am not cycling...
