XT M8000 shifter

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at upgrading my bike to the new XT M8000 2x11 and was wondering if it would work if I got the new M8000 shifter and kept my existing front derailuer, which was for 2x10 configuration? I'm ok with the rear derailuer already, just the front that I'm wondering about.

The only thing I can think of is the width of the M8025 derailleur guide that might be suited better for the 11 speed chain.

Anyone have any experience in doing this?

Thanks!

The new M8000 shifter may or may not have a different pull ratio that may cause issues with the existing FD. perhaps better to stick with the old shifter as well...

Unfortunately I cant use the old shifter, fitted the new M8000 brakes and they are I-Spec 2, and the old shifter is i-Spec B... Wont fit.

Will probably have to bite the bullet and get the M8025 derailuer.

Thanks.

I run a 2x10 XT FD with an XTR shifter with no drama on my M8000 2x11 setup.

This is using the new M8000 26/36 crank with matching rear shifter, RD and brakes.

I dont have any issues with the shifting of it.

Granted it didnt mount to the brake lever, and the XTR shifter is on it's own bracket.

Evans cycles in the UK now have the new XT 11 speed shifters in the I-spec B version.

Sorry I misread your question. On the Evans webside http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shimano/xt-m8000-i-spec-b-11-speed-shifters-ec116590#features

it says - Compatibility: For use with Dyna-Sys11 11-speed only

So according to them, the M8000 shifter will not work with the previous derailleur.  Not sure if it is just marketing.

The next question will be - if the M8000 front derailleur will work with the M785 2 speed crank.
