So this weekend I thought I would give a Cotic Rocket a whirl with 650B wheels instead of the normal 26 wheels. What an awesome change! Yes, you lose a few mm of travel on the rear to prevent the wheel rubbing against the frame at maximum travel. The bb gets raised a little, and that is actually a good thing as the original always seemed a bit low. Overall, the change is really amazing. I thought it would just not quite work, but this was a really successful test. Dont chuck those old 26 frames out. They could be surprising uses left for them

That looks RAD !!! I Know some folks here has a lot to say and don't like these conversions.

I Tried it as well. Had Ruan (Spokeworx) build me a set of wheels, ZTR Crest rims laced to Whyte Industries hubs. I Fitted them on my KTM Taser which is a 2011 26" model. No travel issues but limited to a 2.1 tyre at the rear because of clearance in the swingarm. It's like a new bike and it's awesome ! I Will post a pic as well.

That looks good johnson. Good to know I'm not the only trying this out. In my case I got a bit lucky. I currently have 2.4s on wheels. Not the biggest 2.4s you'll find, but plenty big enough.

My bike has 100mm travel front and rear. I Run a 2.25 front tyre in the 26" Fox fork and it still has a lot of clearance. For my riding style and conditions the 2.1 on the rear does a very good job. The slightly higher bb doesn't bother me at all. This bike handles very well and is fast as hell ! The wheels put me back R8k and I bought a new XT goupset for another R8k. I Did a complete rebuild including all pivot bearings, cables and housings. I Didn't have any labour charges because all the work was done by myself. I spent a total of R19.5k on it. To buy a new bike of the same spec you will be spending R50k plus ! The maths there Works for my wallet !
