I did the 60km. Very well organized as usual with awesome new sections in the 1st 30km.

I would like to give the following constructive criticism:

In the last 15km odd there were few places where you had to guess which route to take. Luckily there were tracks to spot. This was only about 2 or 3 places

Still 1 of my favorites on the calendar ;)

Firstly, I loved the 60km race and the route.  It will definitely be on my calendar for next year.  The organisers did a sterling job, but I have to agree with Jaco.

Once myself and another rider overshot a tight left-hander on a fast descent and on the last 15km the markings were a bit dodgy here and there.

I suggest to put two white arrows on the ground, one well ahead of the turn.  A Toyota Prado came past me and in the dust cloud I missed the turn. I rode for about 2km before realising I missed a turn.

Oh and one last thing.

There were spectators with a dog at a very technical section of the single track in the first 30km.  As I was about the negotiate this piece, the dog started barking, causing a distraction and I went slightly off the racing line a took a rough tumble.

The keep the peace I did not say anything in case it was the land owner but I think it is ridiculous to bring a barking dog to spectate at a technical section.

However, still managed a 3:08.

Also did the 30km. Saw plenty of crashes so don't feel bad! Great event, really enjoyed it.

Thank you for the support! Glad you had a good race.

Hats off to the race organizers. Great job. I suffered big time. Glad route markings and race distance was spot on

Happy to hear you had a good time.

Thank you for your support!

Damn, I really suffered on the 30.  2h50 odd.  I have to hang my head in shame. My 26er and those rocky singletracks and climbs were not mates, and probably I don't want to see another stone for a month.  I had to push some places up Boesmanskop.  It is not that steep, but I just felt terrible today, and somehow it felt like 35 degs when I got there.  I also struggled with the narrow singletrack on the slopes.  Felt like my bike just wanted to go down that mountain.

Organisation was super, and both me and my wife go something in the lucky draw.

Glad you got rewarded for all that effort!

Thank you for the support!

Good ride as always. Brought my wife and kid with and they really enjoyed the outing, did not even notice I was gone for 3h15 while doing the 60KM. I love how they put in all the challenging bits in the first 25KM and that the second half is dirt road cruising. Perfectly balanced race.

Looking forward to the 70K Wolseley in 3 months time.

Yes, he has just turned 16, and has not done a 50km+ race yet, so maybe next year.

EDIT:  I know this is really a fun ride, and not a race,  but you know how competitive boys can be.T

Thank you for the feed back we take note. And I like the ideas mentioned in later posts!

BTW, another note:  best post race vibe of any race I have been to as yet. Love it.

Just let us eat the potjiekos earlier.  My sons kept asking when they can eat.  Their tummies were in uproar with all that nice aromas floating about, and not being able to tuck in.

Yes, the problem is, the potjiekos only get judged as 11:30. And we can't interfere with the pots before then.

The participants already start at 08h00.

But perhaps we can do something else besides hamburgers and hot dogs in the kitchen?

I realise racers, especially growing boys must be famish by then.

Please let us know.

To all the Mountain Bikers that came out today, thank you so much for your support!

I wish I could've meet you all in person, but these anonymous posts, make it so difficult to put a face to the name. (In some cases a name to a face!)

We really strive to give you a great experience and welcome all the feed back. We have a meeting on Wednesday, and I will give all the feedback and recommendations from The Hub.

Please feel free to post more.

How COOL is Carlen?!!,...seriously, GREAT to see this kind of "Intensional Response" to social feedback.

Bummed I missed it this year, (due to wife doing Impi with her friendly's)..and me (not regretingly AT ALL) looking after/spending prescious time with my 4yr old super-Son ❤

When things are "brutal" for you Milky, I have to believe you are on some rigid, 38/10 single-speed, riding without any water-bottles ;)

lol!!

You would not believe what happened to me today. I had about 6 dropped chains throughout the race. I'm running 1x10 on a NW with a clutch Deraileur. So couldn't understand why this was happening. When I took the bike off the rack when I got home today I notice the skewer was loose & that explained my dropped chains.

Washing the bike a few minutes ago I noticed that the tire was actually rubbing into the frame causing some extensive damage. Must've happened during the fast descents & rocky single track Within the first 30kms. Which effectively means I've been riding with a rubbing tire for more than 30kms round about the same time the dropped Chain started happening. And explains why I was being dropped by 1 or 2 riders up seemingly gentle climbs. 60km was Brutal!!!
