Hi ladies and gents,

My giant dropper post cartridge is seized at the actuator button on the top, so the unit does not lock in the upper position or allow it to be dropped.

Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement cartridge? I have the older version with 100mm travel.

mine is similar to this http://fcdn.mtbr.com/attachments/giant/936659d1415138489-giant-contact-switch-seatpost-switchrscheme1.jpg

Which hose will work best for the giant dropper SL?

My original hose and cable was unintentionally replaced with standard gear cable and hose which i think is not really suited for the task.

Bog standard gear cable should be fine, it's all I've ever used... check for kinks in the housing.

By bog standard I mean the decent lined stuff, Shimano or Jagwire or similar.

Ya totally. Just get rid of that rubbish remote and use a converted l/h shifter. Turns the thing into a smooth operator.

I have a sram X5 shifter,

does that mean I need a gear cable with the ball on the end?  also, I notice that the standard cable housing also has like this flexible coiled cable which enters the standard giant remote, probably about 150mm long.  do I scrap that completely and then use the shifters' cable adjust knobby...???

Which version of the dropper is it? 2016 has the ball end in the seatpost side and needs a macguyver to work with a shifter.

Otherwise if it's an older one yes you can cut that coily bit out of the equation.

It's got a black stantion... bought it in 2015, has 100mm travel, says SL on it. It is the switch.... but definitely not the 2016 version.

Recently needed to replace the cartridge in my 2013 100mm dropper. Bike shops contacted Dragons who advised that Giant dont supply the cartridges for that model  any more. I bought the latest 125mm version at a decent price and am more than happy. No unwanted sagging and the 125mm drop is a bonus. Also enjoying the solid return clunk and all black looks.

As far as the cable and remote is concerned I picked up exactly the problem with their new system ie you cant simply use a l/h shift lever as a lever  I was because the cable runs in the opposite direction. That MBR fix is what I was also thinking of doing. Now to find the goodies...

I bought a 5mm diameter cable stop from info@cabless.co.za... was R5.

They're on the same premises as brake super service
