XT Crank x2 or 1x

Does anyone know if the XT 11 speed M8000 on single and double are the same thing, IE just remove one ring on the 2x to make a single speed upfront, Is the single unique where it has no bolt inlets for a second ring? or is the chainline different on each model.

There is a difference in Chain line,48.8 for double and 50 for single, then that all gets repeated if you are on a boost frame,

I think I can space out a double to 50mm, or i hope so anyway,

so there is the bolt options on a single to run a double?

I bought the crank and have used it as 1X and 2 X, no problems ( except I need the new FD that's suitable for 24/34 my old XTR was for 12 tooth spacing ( 26/28 ) it works but not under tension

 

the crank comes with threaded holes for both. I bought the crank without any rings. there is a version that shows a spacer requirement but  I had a stock M 8000.

 

running 2x11 34/24 and using a 10 spd chain and 36-11 cassette. I tried the Kalbo but found 10 spd cassette with 42-11x 32  hard work on the flats and a big drop from 16-12 and then 11 at the back
