Event Name: PwC Great Zuurberg Trek
When: 3 June 2016 - 5 June 2016
Where: Hayterdale Trails, Addo, Eastern Cape
Category: MTB

Registration will be held at the Zuurberg Mountain Village near Addo on the eve of the race.

The PwC Great Zuurberg Trek is a 3 Day MTB Stage race centred around Hayterdale Trails near Addo just outside Port Elizabeth.

All 3 stages are circular routes, starting and finishing at the same place, meaning you don't have to pack up your stuff and move house each day, and you don't need to see to complicated transport logistics to get back to your car after the final stage.

Hayterdale Trails is located in a unique position offering a completely different riding experience depending on which direction you ride.

Stage 1 (South East) - Down into the picturesque Sundays River Valley, criss crossing the Sundays River and parts of the Addo Elephant National Park

Stage 2 (North East) - Remote, untouched sections of the Addo Elephant National Park, ride along the Southern and Northern ridges of the Zuurberg Mountains with panoramic views overlooking the Karoo.

Stage 3 (East & West) - Hug the Southern slopes of the Zuurberg Mountains as you traverse some of the best purpose-built MTB singletrack in SA.

Stage 1 - 70km with 1400m climbing (Sundays River Valley)

Stage 2 - 75km with 1970m climbing (Untouched singletrack and jeeptrack in the heart of the Zuurberg Mountains)

Stage 3 - 50km with 1380m climbing (Singletrack Heaven at Hayterdale Trails)

Absolutely fantastic event. As Mclean said on the first night, "This is REAL mountain-biking, and NOT the Sani2C".  Be warned, though, they take you up every god-forsaken mountain with a malicious relish that even the Marquis de Sada would respect.  Unbelievable terrain and spectacular views and vistas.  Riding through the Addo dodging Ellie poop - I mean, REALLY! Well done to the Hayter brothers for putting this race together.  This is what happens when passion for nature, riding and sharing beat out raw commercialism.  Watch this space - riders are going to be selling the first borns to get an entry
