I have used Polar, Suunto and currently Garmin. Haven't experienced discomfort. Just tighten the belt so that it dont slip down, and then it goes below the bra.

 

Let her try yours on and go run with it and see how it feels?

Switched to a wrist based HRM due to chafing. but i find the Gramin was a better option as the transmitter bit was smaller and thinner and it picked up accurately when i wore it to the side - basically almost under my arm.it was really no thicker than the wire in my bra and i only had the soft elastic bit under my boobs. 

Apple watch benefit is an option if you have vitality. i really find my apple watch works for me! and makes it easier to rack up points
