Surely Jungles wouldn't have expected Brambilla not to try and hang one to that pink jersey.. I mean Italian..in Pink at the Giro..[emoji23] [emoji23] he was going to hang on for dear life.

Hells bells. The Giro never fails to surprise. It's becoming impssible to make any sort of prediction, even from day to day.

Dumoulin fades, Zakarin crashes out, Brambilla holds on to pink somehow, an ex snow ski jumper who's only been riding for a couple of years wins the whole thing, and Landa beats all his rivals except one: Nibali. And Nibali only beat him by one second.

What a crazy race.

Sorry, Nibali beat Landa by 7 seconds.

Looking at the original main favourites, Nibali currently leads.

So if we look again at GC, here are the time gaps from Nibali to his main rivals:

Valverde           0:02

Dumoulin          0:05

Landa               0:25

Majka                0:52

Fuglsang          0:58

Zakarin             1:16

Pozzovivo        1:35

Chaves             1:38

Uran                  2:03

Hesjedal           2:36

Between them all, Landa must be thrilled at how things have played out so far. Everyone was expecting him to be a few minutes down after today.

Irritating for all of the favourites, Brambilla, Jungels, Amador and Kruijswijk are all still ahead. Tuesday is going to be a cracking stage - the perfect profile for some aggressive racing to try and knock some pretenders off their perches.

There were rumours that Landa was struggling with allergies (polumn and stuff)

Today's rain might have settled his allergies.

Interesting back story
