Hi. I'v been mountain biking for the last 7 months and took quite a fall not too long ago and broke my DH chain ring. I am looking at replacing it but due to me not being very technically inclined, i am not sure if i can just buy any DH ring?

I have seen a few on bikehub with various teeth and i am not sure if i can just buy anyone.

I have a 9 speed cassette and a truvative crank.

Thanks in advance

Most probably a 4 bolt, 104 bcd crank set. See Below

What Truvativ crankset do you have? But as David said, take your crank in with you to be safe. I used to run a normal Narrow Wide chainring on my setup. Easily bought from Kitted/Kalbo/Dialed bikes.

Do you still have the old ring? It would be easier to take that along just to make sure of tooth size and more importantly as Otero mentioned. The BCD.

If you have a 9 speed cassette I'm assuming your cranks are from around the same time.

Probably hussefelt, holzfeller, or maybe even ruktion. In which case he is pretty on point with 104 bcd.

Good luck!

Its an M90 if im not mistaken. Can i just take the two chainrings off? The bolts go through both the largest and second largest rings

Yes, you should be able to undo the big one and slide it off over the crank arm.

Put the bolts and nuts back in the spider holes when its its done so you don't lose them.

Some pics would make it easier to help you. I don't know what an m90 crank is. Might be sunrace. Not sure.

So i finally got a picture, need to fix this soon. The make is Raceface.

no thats a feature just like the flat spot i have on my oval chainring, only without the teeth to make it even easier when youre in your weak zone, just turn the chainring 90deg!

Jossos. That's a moerse tumble. Make sure it's not wrecked before you shell out dosh to replace a chainring that ultimately might be wasted on a toasted crank.

Crank is fine. I inspected it and also rode it thrice since i fell.

I am not looking for an expensive chairing, i have seen a few on hub going for R150-R300 but am not sure what tooth mean or which to buy. I will measure and try and find the bcd

The ends of the chairing are bent so the chain wont go onto it. The first two ring are perfect though
