Fox Float CDT losing pressure - under warranty

So the Fox Float CTD Evolution on my 2015 Trance is losing pressure - about 20 psi per day, and that is without it being used. I hadn't used the bike for about a week and when I wanted to go for a ride, realised that the pressure was down to about 50psi. Pumped it and a few days later it was back to 60psi. Checked the inflation valve for a leak - nothing. Pumped again - same story.

Bought the bike about 8 months ago and it did at most 600km, mostly on fairly tame surfaces.

Since the fork is still under warranty, I suppose I would have to send it to Omnico, but reluctant to do so due to a few horror stories I've heard about their service.

Has anybody had the same experience with a similar fork? If so, what was the outcome?

Can anyone recommend someone I can contact direct at Omnico? Don't want to go through the LBS where I bought the bike, 'cause their service is even worse.

I assume you bought the bike in M/Bay? Isn't Coimbra in George also a Fox service agent?

That's right yes, Mossel Bay. I've thought about taking it to Coimbra, but wasn't sure if it had to be returned to the LBS the bike was bought from or any other retail agent.

By service agent, do you mean they can do repairs under warranty, or is it only Omnico that can do that?

Not sure. According to the article below they have an in house fox and rock shock repair center.

Sourced parts from them in the past and the guys have always been very helpful.

you might find the repairs will be listed under maintenance as prescribed by the manual. You'll more than likely have to pay.

Will give the guys a call and find out on Tuesday. Just sucks that one should pay so much for something and then still have to pay more when it stops working under warranty.

Should it already have had a service? Servicing a fork every 500km is not on in my opinion. For someone riding, say 15x 30km rides a month, would mean it has to be serviced every month?

Yup, that'll be best, give them a call. If a simple fix you may get away with the minimum charge.. ? They could even see a problem not related to normal wear and decide to warranty. You never know..

RE servicing. We've al been there. Tough pill to swallow for sure :(

Being under warranty doesn't mean that the fault will be covered under warranty. When last was the fork serviced?

Not yet serviced, only max 600km done on the fork.

600km at 10 km/hr is 60 hours which is over the 50hrs for the break in and subsequent seal replacement. First service is a maintenance requirement

Thanks, which seals are replaced during the first service?

The Coimbra in the link is Coimbra Cycle Centre in PE, the one in George is Coimbra Cycle House, not related.

Oops, missed that. Sorry

Tough call but you probably need to take the bike back to the lbs that sold it, they will be the only ones who can verify the warranty?
