Garmin Edge 705 map software - help needed

I have an Garmin Edge 705 that I have been using successfully for years. 

I had the South Africa street maps and topographical maps loaded on the GPS.

I deleted the maps off the GPS unit by mistake and now cant use the unit.

I don't have the original maps CD's and Garmin say that Garmap where I originally purchased the maps has closed down.

Garmin also say that their current map software wont work on the Edge 705.

Is there any map software that is compatible with the Edge 705?

Surely I don't have to go and buy a new bike computer?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

went onto the site and when I follow the steps to download the map it give a host of error messages. thanks anyway

Whoever at Garmin that said the latest maps won't work on your Edge 705 is talking out of his a$$. I too have an Edge 705 and I have the latest Garmin City Navigator Southern Africa version 16.3 working perfectly on my device. I also still have the last versions of the Garmap topgraphical and Streetmaps installed on my laptop. I keep them for reference because in certain circumstances they are still better than the latest Garmin maps.

I have a 705 with the maps, maybe I can download them and then upload them onto the internets for you? Drop box maybe?

Most probably will not work. The maps usually is locked to your specific device. You should get a "Cannot unlock maps" error message.
