Knocked up and cycling..

Great topic! We need more of these ladies specific forums. Congrats on the baba. Am hoping to also have a baby before end of next year.

Some advice in an old Full Sus column from cycling coach Kate Slegrova when she was pregnant "I spoke to Doctor Jeroen Swart and he said I could go up to Zone 5 until 7 months, which is close to maximal heart rate!"

Thanks, and good luck with your baby plans!

You see, that is more in line with what I hoped my doctor would say (she is also very active, runs half-marathons etc.) so I was quite miffed when she told me to take it easy. :-( I will try and listen more to my body, if Zones 3 to 4 feel fine and comfy, I'll keep doing it. If it is tiring, I will take it easier.

"Knocked up" - no, not so lekker.

"I am with child" would have sounded better? No?

With a hub name like "Baked" Bun in the oven would have been more apt...

I was mountain biking up until 6 1/2 months pregnant.  My last ride was at Jonkershoek.  My bike disappeared a day or 2 later.  The men in my life decided it was better to take the temptation away from me.

I was determine to carry doing something so when the guys went riding at Koeberg, I decided to walk with the ladies.  it was in thick sand and the next day I could barely walk as my hips were so sore (this was at just over 8 months).  Was determined not to let anyone see I had overdone it :-)

We all went to the Knysna Cycle tour 6 weeks after my son was born.  I didn't do the race, but went and rode Harkerville Green route the next day (the red was close sadly).

Congrats !!
