Roval 142+ Hub used in 135mm frame?

I would really appreciate it if anyone was able to give me advise if it is possible to use Roval Control SL Trail Carbon wheelset with 142+ rear hub in a normal 135mm spacing frame.

I bought the wheelset not even aware that the 26" version of these wheels was even available with a 142+ hub. Any advise would be highly appreciated. I really hope I haven't wasted my time and money in buying a wheelset that I can't use. Spent a few randelas getting new rotors, qr adapters, skewers, valves and tyres for the new wheelset and was a massive disappointment when I saw the "142 plus" on the hub.

Royal wheel hubs can be converted from 142+ to QR by changing the end caps only. Shop for DT Swiss QR end caps.

I've read somewhere that the normal 142 hub can be converted to work in the 135mm spacing but the 142+ hubs can not be. I hope I understood that wrong and that you are right. All the specifications on the internet indicates that it is not possible.

I'm hoping to hear from someone that has run into the same problem as me. Than you very much for your reply.

Well, you could always take the end caps out and get an engineering shop to grind them down for you to fit. But this is a seriously last resort.

Thanks, but I'd rather just try to sell the wheels again and get some of my money back than go to such lengths.

I'm just really let bummed. Was really excited and looking forward to fitting the new wheels. Have always heard that wheels are the biggest upgrade you can do to your bike and this was my attempt to better the XT wheelset I have currently.

Xt wheels are great.

The only drawback is the proprietary spokes.

My suggestion is to build (or buy 2nd hand) a wheelset with 32 spokes and the rims of your choice.

The XT's has served me well and luckily I only had to replace one spoke in the three years I've had them. Must have been the upgrade bug that bit when I saw the carbon wheels advertised.

The 142+ freehub sits 2mm more to the right than the 135 or the standard 142 one.  This is too close to the frame to run in the 135 frame even with QR end caps.

Thanks for the information. That means there will be wheelset available in the classifieds very soon.
