Southern Suburbs CPT

Hi All,

Been off the bike for a (very) extended period thanks to both having to do this 'adulting' thing, as well as developing a deep rooted fear of becoming road kill.

Summed up the courage yesterday to head out and went from Harfield Village to Sea Point via Constantia nek and Suikerbossie.

Given that i ran out of gears at constantia village, i wont describe what i went through on the actual climbs - that said, i arrived in sea point all limbs in tact and am really keen to spend more time on the bike.

I am also, however, getting married in september and myself and my fiancee share the goal of a first dance standing up and not in a wheel chair.

If there are any groups going out from the southern suburbs (harfield/claremont/kenilworth) area that are fairly sedate at this point and will have patience while i get my fitness back, please shout! A reasonable starting time on weekends would also be great...

Wont ride during the week, just got a little extra time at the moment....

Winter's rolling in and road cycling activity will be on the decline. (albeit that we've been having some really nice days)

Wish I could join you guys but I don't see a bike in my immediate future. (after an accident) :(

LOL Really?! Don't want to call you out on this but what I hear from many people is contradictory to that you saying.

The nicest social group seems to be southern suburbs cycling: http://ssccapetown.co.za/

The clubs that seem to have it together and cater for all are

Cape Town Giants

Cedar Cycling

Cyclelab

There's a few more groups that seem to stick together and have support for newbies but I don't know the names.
