Hi all

I am interested in the Yeti 575 for sale here: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/190040-yeti-575-for-sale-price-reduced/

But I have concerns regarding the fork, this is what the OP said:

Fork needs attention:

- The lockout does not work
- rebound cannot be adjusted

Forgive me for being ignorant but I have a few questions:

How would it affect my ride?

Is it worth buying a bike with these problems?

What would the costs be to repair it?(if you can)

Thank You

What is comes down to is you won't be able to tune the fork to work as good as possible for you. Lockout is not that important if you arent a racesnake(mine also does not work but that because of a modification) But rebound is very important.

It could just need a damper service (R600-R1000) or the damper cartridge may need to be replaced(could be as much as R2000)

SO my advice would be get someone who knows suspension very well to go and inspect the bike with you and let them tell you if they have an idea of what is wrong and what it would cost to fix

And then factor this in with your budget.

Good Luck !

The bike is very nive but not having rebound is a serious problem and you be putting yourself in danger of a nasty fall.

As mentioned above, get someone that knows suspension to give advice. Hubber Droo comes to mind wrt suspension.

If it's not going to cost a lot fix, you could then negotiate a better price.

OP, I don't want to kill the advertiser's sale, but I'd think long and hard before buying any bike with a DT Swiss fork, nevermind one that already has such critical issues. There's a reason why you hardly ever see peeps riding DT Swiss forks and why so few bikes are specced with them OEM.

If you're really set on that bike, you'll probably have to buy a new fork in the near future, so just keep that in mind.
