Thomasf Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Hi Guys/Girls.. New to mountain biking and bikehub, but the mtb sport bug already took it's bite. Didn't have a very big budget. Got a Silverback Slade 4 for recreational and bit offroad. Family got 2 other silverbacks, small&medium frame. We are planning a trip and bought a Thule hangon 974 to use on Golf 5 towbar. However, disappointed after testing now, couldn't even get 2 bikes on it as bike frame doesn't fit. Tried to put bike skew and put frame near tyre on bar but seems too small with gear/brake lever pressing on bike. If we get our money back, what other product can we get that allows easy 3 bike fit, without buying extras "frame adaptor? Thx
HowardSteele Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Your best bet for 3 bikes is a stand on rack but they are quite a bit pricier than the hang on option I have the Thule 9708 which is for 4 bikes and carry 2 full suss 29ers quite easily and that's on a SUV (Suv the rear window is nearly at the same point as the tow-bar hitch so the fist bike has to be moved quite far across) No way i could fit on a third bike...so for 29ers and a SUV its really only a 2 bike carrier
Thomo Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Stand-on carries are a lot more convenient and highly recommended. (but yes, they come at a premium)There are hang-on accessories that attach to smaller frames allowing one to then hang them.
