See my post above. Labour plus two valves, sealant, tubeless tape = R360.

The main reason why we use proper rim tape instead of gorilla tape is that usually when you take off the tyre (to remove latex balls or clean inside of tyre etc) the gorilla tape lifts and has to be redone.

Gorilla tape is also too thick to use for some rim/tyre combinations but good for some tyres which are too loose.

I used gorilla tape on giant ptrx1 rims and Magic Mary and Rock Razor tyres. Worked really well.

Hope it stays on when i have to take the tyres off and clean.

So assuming the LBS also replaces the tires, If I add Tubeless Race King (priced at R625 ea at CWC) that will make it R1610.00.

I did my own and also went the proper rim tape route.

Mr Price shorts are rubbish and are completely see through when stretched. Just remember when you cycle you bend forward on the bike causing the pants to stretch at the back.

Mr Price makes their stuff to be cheap, for that reason I would avoid their helmets like the plague. Your head is worth more than a cheap jack helmet.

Another option you can think about if you don't want to spend all that money on tubeless for now is to use slime filled tubes.

No....fact. Put on a pair and bend over by a mirror and see for yourself or worse still, ride your bike in the sun and ask the person behind you.

I don't do Lycra on mtb and prefer them fairly baggy.

And I don't do white not on the road either.

My bike came with Maxxis Sphinx tyres and the shop where I bought it converted them to tubeless for free.

I have been riding them for two years with no problems - just a sealant top-up from time to time.

So those tyres can certainly be run tubeless.
