  1. The power of a good voice and an acoustic guitar
  2. Russian Surf Rock band does Joy Division cover. Sounds like something Quentin Tarantino would use in one of his movies.
  3. The whole concert is also available on Youtube (The Killers - Live from the Royal Albert Hall), and it is just awesome - killer band, an audience that is really up for it and a beautiful venue.
  4. “The War on Ukraine is an unimaginable tragedy... As a human, and as an artist, I felt compelled to respond in the most significant way I could. So today, for the first time ever, I publicly performed my Dad’s song, IMAGINE. Why now, after all these years? - I had always said, that the only time I would ever consider singing ‘IMAGINE' would be if it was the ‘End of the World’… But also because his lyrics reflect our collective desire for peace worldwide. Because within this song, we’re transported to a space, where love and togetherness become our reality, if but for a moment in time… The song reflects the light at the end of the tunnel, that we are all hoping for... As a result of the ongoing murderous violence, millions of innocent families, have been forced to leave the comfort of their homes, to seek asylum elsewhere. I’m calling on world leaders and everyone who believes in the sentiment of IMAGINE, to stand up for refugees everywhere! Please advocate and donate from the heart. #StandUpForUkraine” —Julian Lennon
  5. Ukrainian punk band Beton (which incidentally also means "concrete" in Ukrainian as it does in Afrikaans) doing an awesome cover of The Clash's London Calling, renamed Kyiv Calling and with the lyrics suitably adapted. I think Joe Strummer would approve.
  6. Hope this isn't considered to be current affairs.
  7. Awesome cover of The Strokes. The bass player is mesmerising.
  8. Didn't think this song would work acoustically, but it does
  9. I would not ride a bike on the roads in Mauritius. The roads are too narrow and busy with no shoulder whatsoever. The standard of driving is not great either.
  10. I also don't understand why the thread was closed. This site has already become pretty boring since the "current affairs" type threads have been banned. Seems that fun is now verboten.
  11. Chappies for change at your local Greek or Portuguese Cafe.
  12. Is this what we have to resort to now that the current affairs threads are gone.
  13. Yes, some amazing music in that series. It's where I discovered this version of The Mercy Seat by Nick Cave and the amazing album that it is from (Live from KCRW)
  14. Time for a thread revival. Joan Baez plays Dylan. This was recorded at her 75th birthday celebration. Her voice is still amazing.
  15. Good cover, but don't forget about the "Covers performed better than the original" thread. I see no-one has posted there since March.

  17. Interesting read about an airline I had never heard of - Afro-Continental Airways in Rhodesia. https://www.alanbrough.com/history/afro-continental-airways-and-their-old-gunrunner/?fbclid=IwAR3H5BKnTuujZRDC3LXHRltTKTgO4tzoyXN-8JJwhGQbI1b6P31ddRReafc
