Somebody with feedback after some use of the powerpod?

I want to get a power meter for my road bike. I have a powertap on mtb but if the powerpod is reliable it would make sense getting that for my road bike then I can switch it to mtb of their is an issue that needs to be sorted with the powertap

Pls share your experience

Thanks

I've been using the iBike Newton which is essentially the same thing but with the pod you use your own GPS as the head unit with the same internals as Newton in the POD. Works well, gives numbers and numbers and a lot of detail, tests show it's within the same range as most of the other styles of PM (cranks and hub) for accuracy.

Only thing is the Newton takes bit of time to set up. You have to enter an number of variables (your weight, bike weight etc) and the do a 5k odd ride so it 'gets' you... but to be honest it's no hassle and the program you get with the product makes it pretty simple.

Good that it is interchangeable between bikes and my Newton head unit sych's with my GPS very easily.

Not sure if it's changed on the Pod but the thing that does annoy me is that for road you have to put in your riding position. Hoods, drops or tops. I don't really change that much position on a ride, it's hoods mainly but there is a big difference from low aero TT style hoods and cruising hoods so not sure how that affects it.

Again, I'm talking about the Newton unit that is the all in one. Would I buy one again or a POD? on balance I'd say pretty much yes. The POD would be great as you can just use your Garmin / Bryton for the GPS. They do sell alot of add-on's including the power stroke program that shows your peddling, wasted watts from movement and the power in your stroke.

There are alot of new version of PM's being launched and the prices are dropping a lot but most of them can't be popped off from MTB to Road and back again. The said, I don't use a PM on my dirt bike as I'm just riding, having fun and not training in that way so not sure if that really is that much of a plus for me.

Thanks! Have made contact with him and he is extremely helpful. Just wanted some feedback from the guys on hub that uses it

So did you get the Powerpod in the meantime? Interesting to know how it works for you and where you bought it.
