T-Bob Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Unfortunately NQ was in a hell of a problem. Nibbles pushed the pace first after a slowing and with less than a minute on the Colombian could NQ really let him go up the road especially with Nibbles history of turning a deficit and turning someones misfortune into an advantage. an italian, the defending champ, no wins yet and not overly caring about what was happening even the Badger would have found it hard to convinces the shark to hold back. It's the first day of a hectic last week there is still time to be won and lost but TD is looking the goods after today... leaky bum or not. Also with the whole angle of NQ not attacking all over the place and Contadoring up the road you have to remember he is the only GC contender who is going for Pink and Yellow. Everyone other contender has made this 3 week block their focus and all their specific training aimed to be at peak right now. Quintana can't be at peak in the second and third week like the rest running a 1 GT strategy because his tour would be cooked. Looking at the field this is one of the strongest set of riders for many years. It's not like the winner will soft pedal the win after one or two big days. Pinot's coach was saying that they did the numbers to see what it would take to win the Giro and have worked towards this and were well on point. Pinot is hitting bigger numbers in this race but the field is so strong that they are meaning nothing and he's getting dropped when he should be contending. Same was echoed by the Katusha coach. Its the Giro. It's awesome, crazy and unpredictable.

"It could be a combination of the altitude and eating more gels than normal, you can't eat bars on climbs like these." Tummy Doo
'Dale Posted May 23, 2017 Author Posted May 23, 2017 "I don't really know what happened in the front. I heard that Movistar waited a little but the race was on and they were chasing riders like Steven Kruijswijk. I can't blame them for wanting to chase him. You can't give Kruijswijk three minutes; it's was a difficult situation." Tommy D

Gen Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Tommy D looks very secure in the leader's jersey This year the Hollanders will get some joy, most likelyIt'll be a fight all the way to Milano ????Yeah indeed he does..if that was the best they could do to take time out of him on the queen stage they will battle the rest of the week..and let's not forget if anyone else wants the GC they will need a lot of time on him before the TT. Let's see how Dumoulin legs are after yesterday's fight and how his body has reacted to the bib issues. It was a tough stage for everyone. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk

Patchelicious Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Movistar and Bahrain may combine in the new few daysI think Landa might caution Movistar about doing that.

Long Wheel Base Posted May 24, 2017 Posted May 24, 2017 Did Tom actually have stomach problems or did he just need to go? If he didn't have issues like a bug or something and it was just his day for an extra movement then he shouldn't be feeling pap as you do after a bout of gastro.

So we can only assume he simply just needed to "take a dump".
