Cav' Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Stage 7 - Castrovellari - AlberobelloWell we are on the mainland - but still in the transition stages. Still major chances for the sprinters here, and with the breakaway staying away yesterday, chances are that the sprint teams wont leave it all to Cannondale again. The stage starts in Castrovillari in the north of Calabria and we go along the coast for a very long section of this stage, before heading inland tot he finish.http://www.initaly.com/regions/calabria/pix/trip1/1.jpghttp://static2.giroditalia.it/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/T07_Alberobello_plan-1.jpghttp://static2.giroditalia.it/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/T07_Alberobello_alt-1.jpgThe giro site tells us: Over the first 140 km, the route is essentially flat (with just a short descent after the start), mainly on straight and wide roads, and only becomes more elaborate when crossing urban areas. After cresting the Bosco delle Pianelle KOM summit, the final part of the stage is more complicated, as the route passes through several urban areas, with roundabouts, traffic dividers, pedestrian islands, setts paving and speed bumps being the main obstacles. The final 40 km are undulating, and going slightly up, with arrival in Alberobello, stage town for the first time. The final kilometres are fairly complex, as the route runs partly on wide and straight roads, and partly on city roads marked by series of bends and partial narrowings. From 5 to 1.5 km to the finish, the route runs mostly uphill, with a short descent that ends 700 m before the finish. The route climbs slightly in the stage finale, with a few mild bends. The finish line sits on a 100-m long and 7.5-m wide asphalt straight. This finish could be a bit tricky - especially for the lead out trains like Orica Scott who's struggling a bit. With quite a number of reasonable sprinters here, and a good chance of many of them going home sooner rather than later, the stages where they can win are fast running out.Greipel, Modolo, Nizzolo, Gaviria, Ewan I would expect that many of them will drop out come the mountain stages. Gaviria will likely push though if he is likely to win the points jersey - as Quickstep will have Kittel for the Tour, but Greipel certainly and some of the others most likely will leave to prepare for the Tour as there is no final sprint stage in Milan to go for. That being the case - surely some of those teams will come forward and do some controlling. I think it's safe to say we'll see a duel between Ewan, Gaviria and Greipel again today.
Nibali Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 http://www.steephill.tv/2017/giro-d-italia/photos/stage-06/110155_651516456.jpg I would not be capable of doing anything if she looked at me that way Would have made a complete mess of my signature, or maybe would have written down my cell number instead. Something idiotic like that.

'Dale Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 ⚠️⚠️⚠️ ???????????? Some problems for the Bahrain Team this morning. According to reports their bus broke down so the riders had to hitch a lift on the team's second main vehicle.
