Same route at this point, guess it just makes sense to keep the same route. Gentle route and I recorded 882 metres of climb compared to 1735 in 2015.

Unfortunately I do not have a gpx file of it, did not use my watch for the cycle leg.

only variable will be the wind, like every year.

Have entered - can't wait. Will be my 9th in PE

Am out

Tragedy in the family in Dec gave me less than 10hrs training in December and zero so far this year.

Would rather enter 2018.

Good luck with the training guys - enjoy

I am in for my second one...my stomach turns just thinking about it. But in a good way, I guess. Going back to see if I could redeem myself on the run. In 2016 the run didn't go according to plan. Found myself lying on the pavement with an old omie offering to massage my cramping legs (and back and arms and everything cramped).

Anyway, still had a great experience overall.

Here is my Strava for the entire race to give you an idea.

Just note the run is a bit off (my GPS went weird at some point), but from 0 to 184km should be fine.

Thanks, well done.

So around 900m of climbing on the bike leg...reasonably flat then with the wind being the deciding factor on the day I guess

Posted

Funny thing is... the elevation recorded.

I had 882 metres

Bushdaaaif 972 meters

and this Ben character (hehe) 1257 metres

So, one can only conclude that the faster you cycle the hillier the route is.... cycle slowly

Yes, around 1000m gain, stretched over 180km...which means it is very flat.

I can't say anything about the wind, conditions in 2016 was superb (apart from being quite hot).

But I believe the wind can be brutal.

Although, it is an out and back course, so in my head you should be both abused and aided by the wind?

I agree, cycle slow, but run very fast.

I will be going for my fourth one this year!

My wife will be doing her first.... Mother in Law has committed till April to watch the kids on early morning long rides/runs over weekends. During the week we share those duties!!!

Also, Any idea who the Nutrition sponsor will be?

Will like to start training on the stuff if it is going  to be available on race-day.

Cheers and Thanks
