AJG Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I rode the awesome trails at Hoogekraal today and noticed something weird. I knew I had PR'd the Cobra but my time was way off. So I checked Strava Flybys and the compare segment feature. There seems to be a GPS dead zone from the start to the 2nd switchback. I added all of the guys in the top 20 and all of their times only start at that 2nd switchback. This means that everyone in that top 20 is probably missing about 30 seconds from their time. This includes the recent segment hunter episode results. None of this matters much but it's kind of interesting that Strava does not pick up on a GPS location that is not at the start of a segment and eliminate those results. PS the new (to me) section of trail is amazing.

PS the new (to me) section of trail is amazing.I mentioned this same thing on the other thread - my phone and my Garmin are often out by 30/40s or so on this exact section every ride. #bermudatriangle Also finally rode the new trail for the first time - awesome!
Capri Wheeler Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Strava seems to make errors often. There is a segment by my house I wanted to KOM. So I checked the average speed of the current KOM - 28kmh. So I blitsed it up the hill, started off at 32kmh and never dropped below 26 kmh.Strava comes back saying I averaged 24kmh. Must have the distance wrong on the strava side... Begs the question of what is the real average speed of all the other segment holders?
