I bought a frame second hand on the Hub a 8weeks ago for my brother in law..

Came with a Reverb Stealth 31.6mm(125mm drop). Owner told me it had some play, which I was happy with, but it also had some wear on the stanchion. So not his fauly at all what I'm describing below.

Anyway fastforward to today the dropper stopped working (rather it still works but sags when he sits on it, about 5-10mm)

It may be a R3500 service, but I won't know as apparently it costs R500 just to open it up and see...

Brother in law doesn't have that kind of money. Thinking of helping him out by buying the Lyne dropper, any idea where to take this Reverb to be looked at? Hopefully I can still sell it for more than three cases of beer.

Mine developed a similar 5 - 10mm sag. I rode it like that a few months and then sent it in as it was due for a service anyway. It needed a service kit and a new piston head which came to about R1500 all in with labour. The problem seems fixed and it is working perfectly the last 6 months

I had a reverb and had similar issues after ~3000km in the saddle.  I use the dropper frequently, so it did a fair but of duty.  at that stage my service was R1400 which got it right again until my bike got stolen at around 4500km's on the ODO.

Not wanting a repeat of an expensive and somewhat unreliable component, I went for the KS Lev.  Only had it for a short while, but I understand that its a lot more maintenance friendly and also doesn't sag.  Happy so far, but only time will tell.
