Converting medium travel HT to SS

I'm interested in getting an old 26er, originally with a 70mm fork for conversion to a rigid SS. Will going with a regular rigid fork make the geometry a bit 'steep' as the fork won't accommodate for travel? What can be done to keep handling in line?

EDIT: When I say medium travel, it WAS at the time it was made...

Rigid forks are generally whats called "suspension corrected" which takes into account the axle to crown measurement!

So to answer your question, no it wont affect the Geo.
