E bikes are coming just like discs on road bikes, it's only a matter of time.

In Europe they are selling them by the hundreds of thousands. Most are commuting bikes but I'm seeing more and more battery powered mountain bikes now as well. These guys are using them because they like touring and not because they want to race, it allows them to tour further and higher and have more fun doing so.

Creating race categories for e bikes could be problematic in itself, there will be more race induced injuries because people will be riding faster than their own capabilities and to fast for the trail which was built for human powered bikes.

E bike related injuries and deaths are already becoming an issue on the road here in Europe... can u imagine what will happen when you have people racing and riding on trails....

Also... no 2 ebikes are the same.... different capacities and power outputs... so you will then eventually have ebike racers wanting different categories amongst the ebikes....

There is definetly a place for ebikes, but maybe not in the same event catering for human powered bikes.

Are normal bikes not cheaper for commuting and touring?

Saw this pic on Facebook. It illustrates the point of it remaining a good workout very well. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170104/6874b0c4a3d216b1b5e030ba0bb67cec.jpg
