  1. Hi all in 2 minds between the garmin 540 and geoid cc 700 pro can save a a lot of money but I never ordered on Aliexpress before so a bit scared. please share your honest thoughts on the geoid 700 pro, main reason to go garmin is for the vitality points
  2. Thank you for the advicešŸ™šŸ» Main reason is I would like to fit a cheap bike on the indoor trainer, not sure how a cheap bike will shift manually on a trainer as explained. Primary bike is MTB with AXS shifting, but don’t want to remove the wheel every single time I want to train, hence thinking of cheap bike and the cog as no extra cassette need to be purchased
  3. Hi all, I’m looking to get an indoor trainer for the upcoming winter, but I don’t want to use my primary bike (MTB) on the trainer. I’d prefer not to deal with swapping wheels or setup hassle on days when I want to ride outside—hope that makes sense. I’m currently considering the Wahoo Kickr Core with the Cog and Virtual Shifting setup. I understand this setup may mainly lock me into Zwift and could limit use with other apps like MyWhoosh. I’m also wondering if it would be better to rather get a cheap ā€œtrainer bikeā€ (something basic from Makro or The Hub) that I can permanently leave on the trainer. Would a cheap bike still work properly with virtual shifting on the Kickr Core Cog setup, or are there limitations I should be aware of? Also, I’d really appreciate your thoughts on virtual shifting in general—how well it works, any downsides, and whether it’s worth it versus a standard drivetrain setup. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi all - Where can I buy the Geoid cc 700 Pro? Anywhere available is SA or should I buy via Aliexpress???
  5. What carbon wheel will you all recommend?
  6. Hi all hubeers .... In March I bought myself the Scott Spark RC Comp as this was the only bike my budget allows me to buy, but also knew there will come a time that I would like to upgrade some components. In general, I looooove the bike, smooth, nippy and the ride is very comfortable. I would like to upgrade to the following and yes I know it might be a lot of money and that I can buy I bike with the same spec 2nd hand or maybe new, but I like this bike. If I find a better spec Scott, I will rethink my idea of upgrading; Bike parts on Merlin Cycles UK is very well priced as you don't pay for duties, only VAT, I might be wrong but did some research Firstly: * Current gears is Sram NX, so I would like to go to AXS, was thinking of GX AXS shifter and rear deraileur as this is not to expensive, R8999, XX1 AXS will be R13999 so is it worth going for the XX1 or is the GX good enough with smooth and easy shifting? * Brakes currently is Shimano SLX, which I would like to upgrade to SRAM Level Ultimate, coming in at R5499.....worth it? So basically this will be almost same spec as the Scott Spark Team Issue, but they retail for R130k so upgrading might work out better? Your thought will be appreciated.
  7. Hi all, Would like to know, do you connect via bluetooth from laptop to Kickr or via Ant+, which is better? Also.....on the trainer, using garmin to get discovery points, my garmin in synced to strava, and zwift is synced to strava, how to avoid duplicate rides?
  8. It is quite heavy at the bike but from my understanding and according to specs, rear triangle are carbon…..welcome to double check and confirm. Valid advice, thank you!
  9. Noted thank you very much. No time frame - but I hear you saying about the 920 and 930 but I would most prob slowly upgrade parts to my liking. Overall this bike is a beast for me (yes you do get better bikes) , enjoy riding it and most comfortable bike and setup I’ve ever had, but I dont like the NX shifting, not smooth at all and only have the bike for a month. I noticed that a fork with bigger stantions will make big difference and carbon wheels. I appreciate all the opinions and advice, much appreciated.
  10. Which RockShox will you guys recommend? The current Fox, I like the plush feel but as previous user said the 32mm stantions will become a issue when riding harder. Rockshox that is compatible with 3 way lockout or Fox?
  11. Hi all Sorry to jump in here…..so Koeberg is open, use to cycle from Durbanville to do a few laps there, do you need to apply for annual permit or can we (bunch of riders) arrive each with their drivers liscense to do lap?
  12. Thanks for all the replies! I’ve done a proper bike fit and very comfortable on the bike. Yes I will fit a dropper and already don’t like the NX shifting especially in the muddy condition ls after my ride this morning. Will look at GX AXS shifting. I’m already on cleats - had that before so use to it. Also a bit worried about the fork and 32mm stantions. It wasn’t worth it for me to by higher spec bike as I got this bike for very good deal brand new. Just glad to be back on the bike again!
  13. Hi all Back into mountain biking after 4 years, so good to be back although a lot to work on my fitness and weight, already drop 4kgs in 2 weeks. Bought myself Scott Spark RC Comp with the idea to upgrade parts in future. Currently Sram NX groupset, alu wheels / alu handlebar / alu seatpost and shimano slx brakes FOX 32 Float Rhythm 120mm Fork What will you upgrade if this bike was yours? My current weight is 98kg as my target goal is 88kg, will the suspension be fine doing stage races ect? Or should fork be upgraded as well? Looking forward to your advice and tips!
  14. Where can I find ant+ dongle and extension cable for laptop to use on kicker?
  15. Anyone on this thread owning a Kickr Core Zwift ????? Please inbox me
  16. Thank you for the kind feedback. The TR bikes still to arrive in SA, agree that it will be better to see them in person and then decide. I’m really like the white and bkqck frame of the expert, the comp is better spec with carbon wheels and handlebar. Will wait for them to arrive at LBS
  17. Good evening Hubbers! I've been out of MTBing for 4 years now and missed it a lot, been doing it for 12 years before ending it in Covid with the idea of buying a bike soon......but financially couldn't afford it and hopefully soon I will be on the trails again, can't wait! So back then I was on a S-Works Epic and yes now they are waaaaaaaaaay out of my budget and looking for a more comfortable ride with at least 120mm Fork as I heard this is the way to go nowadays, yes I was use to carbon wheels and top end specs, but feel I don't need that again, for it's now to get back in the saddle, get fit and loose the weight I've gained. So here is the options I'm looking at and obviously budget but need value for money as well, parts can always be upgraded, but for now......get the wheels turning again....... https://titanracingbikes.com/bikes/cypher-dc-carbon-expert-my24/ https://titanracingbikes.com/bikes/cypher-dc-carbon-comp-my24/ https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/scott-dual-suspension-bikes/products/scott-spark-rc-comp-green-2023 Please share your thoughts, recommendations and opinions.....no brand shaming please! šŸ˜‰ Much appreciated!
  18. Anyone on this thread that owns the new Wahoo Kickr Core Zwift One? Will this be compatible and easy to use with 12speed MTB? For example how is this with training programs / ERG Mode / Riding routes and climbs, easy switching gears ect?
  19. Any news on this? Koeberg trails open?
  20. Hi all I’m in the market again to buy a MTB, I’ve always been used to riding 100mm travel bike but ever since I stopped cycling for a few years (covid and financial impact) 120mm came out. Obviously I gained a few kg’s and is now +-100kg….wich one will work for me better? Yes….hopefully cycling will make me shake a few kgs!
  21. Dear all , I'm looking at buying this model mountain bike and would like your thoughts on this bike and if you ride one yourself, please be in contact. Specs of the bike: * SRAM GX Groupset * SRAM Guide RS Brakeset * FOX Step Cast 34 120mm fork * Rockshox Micro Brain Rear * Roval Control Carbon Wheelset Would like to know riding style, as I'm used be riding S-Works Epic 3 years back and felt way to aggressive for me and hard as hell. Your opinions will be much appreciated!
  22. Awesome! Many thanks!
  23. Hi all , Looking to buy a Scott Spark RC Team AXS model. Anyone that ride the same bike that can share some info regarding the comfort of the ride; suspension??? 25. Good evening all MTB'ers and Hubbers If all goes well I will be back on the trails again by hopefully end of May after 3 years of no bike and riding due the financial impact of covid 19......YES......only recovering now šŸ˜ž Been a member of the club since 2010 but obviously since 2021 not, so I'm really looking forward to get back in the saddle and meeting like minded people again.....I can do with some motivation to get rid of my "bier pens" and "wine drinking" šŸ™‚ Is it safe to ride alone on some of the Tygerberg Trails, I use to ride Bloemendal; Majik Forrest and a lot of the Klipheuwel / Fair Cape Trails alone....was all fine back then but surely things have changed. Feel free to share some feedback and even contacts for joining groups..... I live in Pinehurst, Durbanville See ya on the trails soon! Best Regards
