I have had enough of punctures on my MTB and hear that tubeless is the way to go. Any comments?

Definitely. But get good tubeless tyres and some good "slime" Had my first pincture for three years a couple weeks back. Large slice from some broken glass. Didnt stand a chance.

Thanks. Got brand new tyres on so don't want the expense of replacing them right now (although I will if I have to). They are Maxxis Crossmark, dunno if they are ok with tubeless conversion. Had 4 punctures on saturday, all from thorns, and am tired of this!

we went on a mtb ride two weeks back and went through a heavy patch of thorns and 90% of the rides with tubes had to stop and repair. The guys on tubless were fine . so tubless in my opinion is the way to go

the joes and stans will convert almost any tyre to tubeless. crossmarks will be ok. definitely the way to go. had no punctures since i did a conversion.

You should be OK on Crossmarks. Make sure you use soapy water and a Compressor (carefully now) and you will be fine. Also watch your max running pressure, tubeless run lower. I run mine at 2.5bar (90kg).

Next tyres get a tubeless specific tyre.

Kev.... No surprises with the input you're getting here. Going on 3 years without a flat after going tubeless....with UST tires though. Look forward to a few good rides when we down next...and not having to stop for you to put in another tube :)

PS: Welcome to the hub.

I've been using pre-slimed tubes with great success. Except for a snakebite I got on one of the Logwood drop-offs I've had no issues. That said, I'm converting to tubeless now for the benefit of running lower tire pressures.

I am also about to do a tubeless conversion to my wheels, but was surprised to see warrantee issued with some tyre manufacturers and sealant liquid. Kenda being one of them.

Most of the bike shops I have spoken to in this regard were oblivious of Kenda's policy and said that it is to be ignored as they have had no problems running Stan's or Joe's with any Kenda tyres.

I have heard of some non UST tyres bubbling or de-bonding, but surely almost all tubeless conversions include a sealant. How can there still be UST tyres that are incompatible with sealant?

I'm a YES TUBES guy and have not had a puncture, or rather had to change a tube, since I've started December 2006. Dr Sludge tubes are great.

Must be a US thing. They have to cover their arses for everything.

Have seen a tyre bubble but nothing to do with the sealant. Purely a defective tyre and the shop replaced it no problems.

I really wouldnt worry about a warranty affecting your enjoyment with something like a tyre. Anyway, if your lbs is worth their salt they will honour your setup directly. Have yet to find a shop that doesnt sell sealer.
