Odinson Posted February 14, 2017 Share General question: What would be considered good milage on a MTB tyre? How long is a piece of string? It all depends on the type of tyre, where its ridden, how its ridden, etc. etc. I think a minimum of 1000km is okay, but even that number can be a bit arbitrary. Sure I realise there are many factors that would affect it. But just to get a general idea. I noticed on my current set of which most of it was ridden on hard surfaces (tar road or hard gravel road and then some single track) I am on about 2300 km. Breezer Posted February 14, 2017 Share I get on the back tyre (maxxis ikon) about 4500km. If I go on tar I get half that amount.
Allrounder Posted February 14, 2017 Share The guys in my group are talking about 5000 km.
JXV Posted February 14, 2017 Share Back tyres usually wear more than fronts. Rider behaviour has a big influence. Rubber compounds too......sticky high grip tyres for downhilling should wear out much faster than a gravel grinder like Maxxis Crossmark. A 29er Spez Ground Control on the rear has given me about 4500km. It still has useable tread over the whole surface but traction has deteriorated a lot and it is basically done.
