Time for a new saddle and not sure what to get.

Hey everyone. So Recently I went for a BG fitment from West Rand cycles. I got a lot out of it and my riding so far has been a lot more comfortable than it is normally. One thing I got out of it was that I need 140mm ish saddles. I have a Selle Italia SLR XC Flow on my MTB and it's 135mm. And it certainly isn't as comfortable as the 140mm wide Selle Italia SL I have on my road bike.

So I was looking at Selle Italia's website and I see these days they have a load more options than they did a few years ago. I thought I would get one of the Flite saddles cause I assumed the SLR's are all 135. But I am so wrong and I see you get larger SLR's as well. So now I don't know if I should get a Flite or a SLR. I love my SL on the road bike if that's anything to go on. So does any one have any insight on what saddle to get?

Seats are such a personal choice as to what works for each individual that it is hard to recommend a particular one.  What one person loves, another can hate just as much.  I know some stores have "test" saddles available to try and see what works for you.

Saddle width is integral to the choice you make

Ensure to have those sitbone puppies measured  :excl:

Contact points with the bike are so important to get right. Being comfy, you can ride longer, further. Good job on the bike fit, no doubt your putting more watts down too in an efficient position.

How times have changed - definitely agree, but wonder how many of us rode the wrong widths for years and didn't know any different.

Got that done. I need ~140mm saddles. Explains why I like my 140mm Selle Italia SL on my roadbike so much.

I am still having a tough time deciding. Seems like the specialized isn't sold by my LBS. Maybe I will look at one when I go to West Rand for my follow up BG fitment.

I have also been looking at the Fabric saddles. I really like the look of the Line. And they have some nice really lightweight carbon Lines on their website. But I can't seem to find one in SA.

And I am still not 100% sure on what differentiates the SLR and flite since on Selle's website they both come in a variety of widths shapes and sizes.
